Outlaws? No! The local sheriff and his deputies assuring the safety of a
wealthy Lady of the town. This featured vacation is located in the great state of Arizona. It is definitely a vacation to be remembered and enjoyed. I can say that because this was one of my own vacations. It was a trip into OLD TUCSON, ARIZONA. Most people believe Old Tucson is the original location of today's city of Tucson or an older part of the town. Not true! Old Tucson was built in a desert location as the set of a movie in 1939. The movie was actually titled "ARIZONA". Many of the movies we have all enjoyed were filmed there. Films staring John Wayne, Dean Martin, Clint Eastwood, Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas and many others. There have been hundreds of films produced in Old Tucson. All of us have visited Old Tucson without even knowing it by way of our local movie theater. But there is nothing like actually seeing it in person. When I made my visit to Old Tucson it was mid June, the sky was clear and the sun was hot. My hair is a little thin so I should have worn my cowboy hat. As we strolled through the dirt streets we were fascinated each time we saw something we remembered from a favorite movie. We were walking where John Wayne shot down the bad guy, where Clint Eastwood looked intimidating under the brim of his black hat. It was an exciting experience to see the old general store, the livery stable and the OK coral. The most exciting and fun place was the saloon and dance hall. There were live performances daily in several locations including the dance hall. During the show the performers would leave the stage and mingle with the crowd. They would then pick an audience member or two and take them up on the stage as a part of their act. My son is a biker guy with a Harley Davidson shirt and was picked to participate. Can you picture a bad biker complete with boots and Harley gear on stage wearing a blond wig and a cancan dress? Well, that is what happened. He did the CANCAN right there for the enjoyment of 50 or more people. Wanna SEE?
